Here in the Athletic Zone we’re all on this journey ‘to be better’ as a team – What it means to you ‘to be better’ will be different to the next person; and their level of compliance and commitment ‘to be better’ will also be different to yours.
Where ever you are at, one thing is for sure it is not easy. Is it worth it? You know the answer to that, of course it is. This quest to be better, to constantly challenge yourself and each other, is what keeps you coming back day after day, week after week, month after month. This is the CrossFit community. An incredibly supportive, motivating and fun environment that helps people achieve a level of fitness and health that can’t be replicated.
Challenges, successes and triumphs shared with the entire support of the AZ group every step of the way, can simply not be underestimated!
Each month we recognise one of our athletes. This athlete may or may not know how much they are inspiring those around them with their achievements in and out of the Athletic Zone.
Congratulations to Athletic Zone’s April Athlete of the Month Jace Foreman!
Jace is a seasoned CrossFit Athlete with 2018 marking his third open!
In his time at AZ, he has gone from strength to strength and has gained personal and performance growth.
Jace is someone who will always greet you with a smile as soon as he walks into the gym, pour his heart into every workout he completes and he can have a laugh and not take himself too seriously.
His gymnastics and Olympic skills have made huge improvements and that just doesn’t happen overnight. You’ll see Jace in the Gymnastics class then following up with the CrossFit class straight after.
Jace has worked hard towards his goals whether it be for his CrossFit performance or physical goals. Late last year, Jace had a massive decrease in body fat percentage and is still working hard towards his ultimate goal!
We are all supporting you Jace and can’t wait to see what else you achieve this year!

A few moments with Jace:
When did you start doing CrossFit? I started in September 2015 however started with the Athletic Zone in October 2016 and haven’t looked back.
Most loved WOD/Movement?
Power Cleans will always be my favourite.
Least Favourite WOD/Movement? Ring Dips have to be up there for sure.
Favourite cheat meal? Meat Lovers Pizza or a Chicken Parmigiana from the pub!
Proudest Moment? When I reached 15% Body Fat in December 2017.
What was your goal when joining Athletic Zone? To continue to lose body fat, gain muscle and make new CrossFit buddies in the process.
What is your 6 month goal? To finally gain my first Bar Muscle Up. I’m getting close.
Has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym? It makes me organise the day better knowing that I have to go to CrossFit at a certain time. It motivates me to eat healthier even on the days I’m not able to attend and I’ve gained more self confidence in general.
What is your number 1 tip for someone looking to get healthier? Only about 20% of a healthy lifestyle is focused on exercise, some might say even less. A healthy lifestyle is made in the kitchen. Plenty of greens but don’t be too strict on yourself!
If you were to create a WOD and name it after yourself, it would be:
