If you are new to Gymnastics you expect to learn a whole new way to train that is fun and very addictive – Once you start Gymnastics the famous Japanese saying  of “Kaizen” which means “constant and never ending improvement” is very applicable. If you’ve already experienced the endless benefits of gymnastics and looking to nail your first muscle-up or perfect your muscle-up, or maybe learn how to stick a free standing hand stand our world class coach and athlete Farkas will guide you every step of the way.

Rather than training isolated muscle groups, gymnastics trains movements. Gymnastics has a strong skills focus- in fact, the correct learning of skills and technique is more important for gymnastics performance than overall strength. This is why it is so important to have expert coaching when it comes to gymnastics.

Training using gymnastic movements develops a functional strength that is highly transferrable to everyday activities and sports performance, here’s why:

  • Gymnasts have incredible “relative strength” – this means their strength is high relative to their bodyweight
  • Gymnasts have great static and dynamic balance
  • Gymnasts have the best flexibility amongst all Olympic athletes and are extremely agile

Where does Gymnastics fit into CrossFit?

One of the many benefits CrossFit has done is bring training methods like Gymnastics and Weightlifting to the mainstream.

CrossFit has 3 main fitness elements that form the Theoretical Hierarchy of Development. They call this the CrossFit “pyramid”. Gymnastics is one of these essential cornerstones that has a dramatic impact on your overall fitness: accuracy, agility, balance, coordination, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, power, speed, strength, and stamina.

In CrossFit, body-weight movements are considered gymnastics (e.g., air squat, push-up, pull-up, etc.). We are taking skills from the sport of gymnastics and applying them to workouts.

Gymnastics has an emphasis on strength in body-weight movements, promoting strict movement before momentum is applied. By building a strong base of support with perfecting the strict movements yields better results in the long run and reduces the possibility of injury.

Gymnastics requires patience and persistence, it is very challenging but great fun and rewarding at the same time.

Our CrossFit Program and Gymnastics Class is open to all levels of fitness, each class is scaled to your current level by our expert coaches. CrossFitters, non-CrossFitters, fitness newbies, gym junkies and everyone in between is welcome to participate in our gymnastics program.

7The gymnastics class is FREE for AZ full access members and $15 per session (10 pack class package) for non AZ full access members.

No requirement to be a member to participate in this class.
